January 2009!!!!

Happy New Year! It has been a very eventful year, especially with the birth of Jade. We are so glad she is growing and developing so well. She really is fun to have around and I really can't imagine our family without her. It will be fun to see how 2009 turns out and what things she has accomplished in a year.

January 4th was not a very fun day. It was fast Sunday and I had been fasting that I would be able to come to terms with this new pregnancy. I have been feeling guilty because I didn't really want to be pregnant. I had talked about going back to school now that Jade was easier to leave for an hour or two. I really wanted to finish up my degree and I thought this would be a great time to start again. I was also really nervous because Jade and the new baby would be so close in age. The thought of handling a 15 month old and a brand new baby at the same time were frightening. So I guess I was fasting for a piece of mind with this pregnancy and a little bit of excitement. The thought had been in the back of my mind though that this pregnancy was very different. For starters, the ultrasound that I had several weeks back didn't pick up a heart beat and that made me nervous. Also the fact that I had two days of some nausea and nothing else for several weeks. I thought maybe I had just gotten lucky with this baby but it was so different from my pregnancy with Jade that it was just another warning sign that something might be wrong. So on Sunday after fasting, I started thinking that maybe I was going to miscarriage. Sure enough, that night Aaron, Jade and I were down at my parent's house for Sunday dinner when I started to spot. I spotted with Jade about this same time but again the nagging feeling that something wasn't quite right started up again. My brothers, dad and Aaron gave me a blessing and Aaron blessed me that I would be okay and so would the baby. We went home but I continued to spot and by about 11pm I was starting to cramp. During the middle of that night, I woke up with serious abdominal pain. I went to the bathroom and miscarried. I've never had that happen to me before, even though I have seen it a million times at the hospital. However, I wasn't really prepared to have it happen to me. Even though I had been having nagging feelings all day that something wasn't right, it still took me by surprise. I told Aaron and he was very supportive. I think he was a little nervous because I wasn't very emotional. I think I was more in shock that anything else. I went back to sleep that night not feeling much. I was just too shocked to really express my emotions. When I woke up that morning, Aaron asked if I wanted him to stay home. I told him no, that I would be alright. I called all of our family and told them the sad news, but never got emotional. It wasn't until that night, late, that I broke down. All day I had been thinking about what a horrible person I was because I didn't want to be pregnant. I felt like this was a way for God to punish me for being so selfish. Finally, my emotions just came to a head and I had a break down. I think it scared Aaron a little bit because it came out of no where. One moment we are having a normal conversation and the next I'm bawling my eyes out. No matter what I told myself about the statistics of a miscarriage, or that it wasn't my fault, that it just happens, I just couldn't stop feeling guilty. I finally fell asleep (because that is what I do when I am upset. I sleep really well!) When I woke up that morning Aaron told me he was taking a day off of work. He fixed me breakfast and told me to just take it easy. My feelings didn't change but it sure was nice to have his support that day. We just hung out, put away Chrismas decorations, Aaron worked on our fireplace, and we played games. It was a great day and by the end, I felt more at peace with myself and God. It was a horrible experience to have to go through and I totally empathize with those ladies that come into the ER miscarring. However I feel like a learned a lot about myself and my Heavenly Father.

January 8th, The stake president, President Murphy, and his second counselor stopped by the house today unexpected. I just happened to be flexed from work and Aaron and I were sitting watching TV whent he doorbell rang. The president came in and just chatted with the both of us for about 30 minutes and then left us with a word of prayer. It was nice to visit with him but of course we were both very interested in why he came to visit us. When I told our neighbor she said it was because they were looking for a new bishop. I guess ours lost his job and he has been looking out of state for a new one. Let's hope that Aaron doesn't get called to be bishop. With how busy he is with his job right now, I just don't know were he would find the time. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

January 10th, I have decided that with the miscarriage, maybe I should really go back to school. I had talked about it with Aaron before we found out we were pregnant and then just put it on the back burner when I really was pregnant. But now that I'm not, I think maybe I will. I have to have one more prerequiste before I can apply to the U of U's BSN program. It's a 16 month internet program and I could get in this next fall. So I've registered at SLCC for a Bio-organic chemistry class. I'll take that for spring semester and then be ready to turn in my application to the U for the fall semester. It's two days a week for an hour plus I have to have a lab. So maybe I will get Jen Sorensen to watch Jade for me two days and week and get this class done. I haven't talked to her yet but that would be that plan. I start class on Monday (it's Saturday) so I better hurry, huh?

Tonight we went up to Park City and met all the Gunn kids for dinner. We ate at our favorite mexican restaurant, Baja Cantina. We then decided to go to the hot springs because we weren't able to go on New Years. We got to the hot springs and there were naked people in it again. It was super crowded for some reason and with the naked people, we decided to just leave. We were super disappointed that we had to end the night so early but Aaron came up with this awesome idea. We would rent a cheap hotel room that had a hot tub and then let everyone come over and crash it. But could we find a single room in Heber? NO. All of the cheap ones were full or they didn't have a hottub. Finally, we called the Homestead and instead of renting a cheap room, rented an expensive room. It was fun though. Everyone came over and we went to the pool. It was heated and they had a great hottub and we spent the rest of the night hanging out. Jade loved the water and had a really good time. It was getting late, so Aaron and I headed back to the room with Jade and on our way back to the room we saw a huge buck right outside our little room. It was eating the branches off the tree right next to our door. It didn't move the entire time. It just stood there and we were able to walk right past it and into our room. It turned out to be a really fun night and we stayed in a squeezie hotel room.

January 12th, I started by bio-organic chemistry class today. It's at nigh, Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7pm plus a two hour lab in the early afternoon on Wednesday. So Jen Sorensen has agreed to watch Jade until Aaron get's home from work. I have to leave our house at 4:30pm to get to class on time. So she watches her from about 4:30-6pm and then watches her on Wednesdays starting at 1pm until Aaron gets home. This class looks like it's going to be a tough one. I haven't done chemistry in almost ten years and they expect you to have just taken it. So that will be challenging. But it is kind of fun to be back in school. I just hate how much it costs. The book was over $150. Unbelievable!!!!

Something quick about Jade. I walked in to her room this morning to get her up and found her standing in her crib holding on to the side rail. She was looking over the rail. Cute thing. I was so impressed that she had pulled herself up by herself. She hasn't been able to do that by herself yet. I guess this means were going to have to lower her bed so she doesn't lean over the rail and fall out.

January 13th, Jade woke up this morning with really bad diarrhea. I have had to change her diaper at least six times today. Because it doesn't really smell, I don't catch it in time and so her poor little bottom is just super red and raw. She screams every time I try to change her diaper. Poor thing. I wonder if she's getting another tooth. I guess we will see.

January 16th

Our new entertainment center. Jeremy Sorensen designed and made it for us. He did a really great job. Now we just need to finish the tile around the fireplace and install everything.

January 17

January 18th, On our way home from Mom Gunn's house tonight, Jade threw up in her car seat. She had been acting cranky all afternoon and didn't eat a very good dinner but I didn't think anything about it. Her diarrhea has gotten better but she hasn't had any other signs of being sick. Luckily when she did throw up we were just pulling into the drive way so she didn't have to sit in it for very long. Poor thing vomited three times. Then it was like she felt much better. I gave her a little bath and then put her to bed. She went right down and didn't fuss or vomit anymore that night. She woke up the next morning just her chipper little self. Weird!

January 19th, Aaron is in Tennessee on business. So Jade and I went back down to my mom's and hung out all day. I've noticed that we have hit a high maintainence stage with Jade. She doesn't like to just sit and play with her toys anymore. Now that she can crawl around and now even stand, she thinks she needs to be on the move at all times. She especially loves to hold onto your fingers and take steps. She's gotten really good over the last week and will walk around as a long as you will hold on to her fingers. She absolutely loves it and that's the only thing she wants to do. It's very tiring and getting pretty annoying. I mean don't get me wrong, it's cute that she is starting to walk around but really. I'm sick of bending over and holding on to her fingers. Part of me just wants her to start walking, although that would be a nightmare. At least she could be on her own when she did that.


Jade in a shopping cart at Maceys. We put here in the cart and she loved it. She thought she was really driving a car. She would hold on to the steering wheel and honk the horn. She was really cute. And then she pooed everywhere. She had it on her tights, skirt, turtleneck, back, legs etc. I used twenty wipes and Jade ended up leaving the store in only a diaper. Remind you it's January. I think every mom there was ready to call DCFS on me for having my child in only a diaper in 20 degree weather. :)

January 20th, Poor Cierra. She was playing with Jade and she ended up scratching Cierra's eye. At first we just thought Cierra had taken a finger to the eye but after several hours and Cierra still couldn't open up her eye, I took her to JVH and had one of my doctors take a look at it. Sydney told her she had a scratch on her cornea and that she needed to use antibiotic eye drops for a couple of days. We put in some numbing drops and the first dose of antibiotic drops and by the time we got back to mom's house her eye was feeling much better. At least she could open it. Poor thing!!

January 23rd, Jade had her first try at a hotdog and loved it. I was eating one for lunch and gave her a bite. She ate the rest of it for me.
Jade is also getting better at saying Kitty. It still is Kit but it's clearer and she says it everytime she sees one of our cats or Mom Gunn's cats.

January 24th, I let Jade lick the egg beaters today. I was making a cake and let her taste one. She loved it so much that I put her in her highchair, put on the bib and let her have one. She thought it was the best thing.



January 26th, Jade had her 9 month check up today. She had to have it a little early because our Pediatrican, Cami Goff, is going on maternity leave sometime in the first of February. So we thought we would get her in a little early so we could see her. Jade is doing really well. She is 18.14 lbs, 27 inches long, and 17 inches in her head circumference. She is still in the 50th percentile for everything. She is eating table foods really well. She still continues to have baby food and drinks it out of her infant feeder. But she's bascially eating three square meals a day. She can clap her hands and is in the beginngings of learning how to wave. Cami says she's still very advanced for her age and seems to doing really well.

January 27

Jade decided to just climb Mom Gunn's stairs all by herself. Mom Gunn ran over to make sure she didn't fall but she seemed to have the hang of it. Great, now she climbs stairs too. This is all happening way to fast.

January 30th, Dad Gunn bought Jade a cool gate for their house. It's big enough that you can make a play pen out of it. So we corral her in it and toss in all her toys. She plays in the living room while Mom Gunn and I scrapbook in the kitchen. Jade does really well until someone talks to her. Then she realizes that she's trapped and wants to get out.

December 3

Jade started learning how to feed herself with a spoon. We noticed that she would eat better if she can control the spoon. She's not very good yet.

December 4th we noticed that Jade had her first tooth. It's her lower right incisor. She's been sick for the last two weeks with a runny nose, low grade fever, occasional diarrhea and then for the past two days she started getting a barky cough (which I was worried would turn into croup). But luckily she's been okay and getting better now that her tooth is poking through. I first noticed it because she was chomping down really hard on a toy and making it squeak. She chomped on it for a good two hours while Mom Gunn and I were shopping at JCPennies. She's super funny to watch because she seems so intrigued with it and runs her tongue along the rough edges. So she's constantly making funny faces.

December 5

December 6 th Austin and Erica watched Jade for the first time while Aaron and I went to my ER Christmas Party. I think they were a little tired by the time we got home, not because Jade was so crazy but because they drove themselves crazy worrying about her. Austin said that once she went to bed, he checked on her at least once every thirty minutes because he was afraid she would stop breathing. Funny kid. He sure has a lot to learn before he has his own.

On December 8th Jade tried to army crawl for the first time. We have our little Christmas tree up and around it we have a small old train that used to be my parents growing up. Jade is just fascinated by it and we were able to catch her on film trying to get the train car. She doesn't go very far but with some practice she will definately get better. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. I've really liked the "Paperweight" stage were I can just sit her in the middle of the floor and she keeps herself entertained. Now that she gets the hang of crawling she will be all over everything.

December 9

Decemeber 11 Austin and Mara gave us extra tickets to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Program. They even offered to watch Jade. The program was lovely and it was so nice to go out together without Jade. When we picked up Jade, Austin and Mara's first comments were about how well she did. They said she was super easy to watch and that she was very good natured. They loved having her over. Good for her. She gets that good disposition from her laid-back dad.

December 12 Jade sprouted yet another tooth. Now its the left lower incisor. Mom Gunn was the one that found it. She was busy babysitting Jade, (yes, we do take care of our own kid. December has just been a busy month :)) while we went to Aaron's Xango Christmas party at The Grand America. Unfortunately we didn't win anything at the party and it snowed so much we thought we were going to be stuck there all night.

December 14

This is the Cousin's Christmas Photo. Grandma Ro bought cute dresses for the girls and ties for the guys for Christmas. So we decided to all get together and try to take a cousin picture. It didn't turn out very well. Out of a gazillion pictures, this is the only good one that I was able to get.

December 15 Jade stood for the first time. She doesn't seem to really like it very much. I think she's nervous about doing it because when she gets up, holding onto our fingers in a death grip, she grunts a lot and then quickly sits down. Actually maybe it's cause her chubby little legs aren't strong enough to handle the weight yet. She's really starting to get around with her little army crawl. She's discovered the new freedom and really likes it.

December 18

December 19 Jade has discovered that she can talk. She babbles a lot but today she woke up saying Ga-Ga. By the end of the day it had turned into more of a Da-Da. However I'm not officially marking it as her first word. I think she just got lucky. Besides, I'm holding out for Ma-Ma to be her first word. :)

December 20 I found out that I'm pregnant. I don't know how that could have happened because we weren't planning on it and we've been very careful...if you know what I mean ;). But I am. I'm not super excited to be quite honest. This means that Jade will only be 15 months old when the little tyke is born. That is insane. About as insane as my mother was having Austin and Hudson 14.5 months apart. I ad an ultrasound done today while I was working. Amanda, the amazing ultrasound tech, could see a sac but not a heart beat. But she said not to worry only because I'm so early in finding out. I'm only 5 weeks along and that could be too early to hear one yet. So we will see I guess.

December 21 we had the Christmas Boot Party over at Grandma Bills house. Yet again it was a very nice evening. Grandma did a great job and preparing the food and having fun games and great presents for the boot. Jade, of course, was the life of the party. We've noticed that the more active Jade becomes, the less interactive we become with eachother and the more inthralled we become with Jade. While at Grandma's house, Jade actually took two little crawling steps up on her hands and knees. Dad Gunn was able to get it on his video camera. Cute little thing. December 22 we had a tender mercy moment today. Aaron has the last two weeks before New Years off from work. He had extra vacation time that he needed to use before they expired so he decided to go to Gordon's and install a new furnace in his house. To pay Aaron, Gordon just happened to have 8 new tires that would fit both of our vehicles. And randomly, both of our cars needed new tires badly or we wouldn't make it through the winter. We had discussed earlier the situation and realized that with Christmas coming on we really didn't have the money to replace all eight tires. But then Gordon offered to give us the tires in exchange for Aaron's work. It worked out perfectly.

December 24-Jade's first Christmas Eve. This is the first Christmas Eve that I have spent with my family in ages. I work every Christmas Eve so that I can have Christmas Day off. But this year I worked the last part of the Christmas Day schedule. So we were able to attend the annual Gunn Family Christmas Eve party. Dad Gunn was in charge of the festivites that night. He did a great job and we had a lot of fun but I think Jade was a little overwhelmed with the amount of people there. It would get really loud at times and it would scare her to the point of crying. Poor thing. It didn't help that we didn't get home until 2am because it snowed so much we had to travel 25 mph all the way home.

December 25-Jade's first Christmas Morning. We left super early through a blizzard to get to the Sorensen's so we could open presents. Jade is still too young to understand the concept of opening presents and being excited but she did like to play with the empty boxes and sit on the presents. She was super cute in her red christmas pj's and hair bow. Then be battled the storm and went to my parent's house to open presents with them. After opening presents with them we drove back up to the Sorensen's so that we could talk to Aaron's little brother, Tyler, who is on his mission in Sacramento, California. We have lots of video of the occasion if you ever want to check it out. We also having video of telling both sets of parents that we are expecting another baby. They were in shock but totally excited. After an exhausting day, I headed off to work for the the next 12 hours and had one of the busiest nights yet. It was so crazy with the snow and we were super overwhelmed. Not a great night.

December 26

December 28 we got our taste of what church will be like in the months to come. Now that Jade has discovered that she can babble, that's all she did during sacrament meeting. That and blow loud raspberries at people behind her. She also let out a really loud burp today right as the sacrament was being passed and it was at it's quietest. So embarrassing but several people behind us laughed and thought it was adorable.

December 30 Jade gives open mouthed smooches. You ask her to give you a smooch and she opens her mouth wide and plants one straight on your mouth. It's gross but so cute. She also is standing for longer periods of time. The two big presents we got her enable her to stand up while holding on. She also sounds like she is saying the word Kitty when Huey or Addy walk by. It's more of a "Kit" sound but she says it everytime one of the cats meander by.

December 31-Jade's first New Year's Eve party. We went up to Midway and stayed at Inn By The Creek. We dressed Jade in her hot pink fuzzy snowsuit and took her sledding for the first time. She didn't like the suit very much so she didn't really have a good time. I think it's cause she can't really move. She looks like the kid from A Christmas Story in the snowsuit. Jade fell asleep before the new year. I didn't really let her stay up though. We tried to go to the hot pots again this year but we discovered that there were naked European men bathing in the hot pots. So we left before Cierra and Paige got a quick Birds and the Bees lesson. We ended the night with a funny show from Dad Gunn playing Wii fitness. He was so funny to watch doing yoga. Happy New Year!

After sledding we decided to stick our feet in the bathtub instead of going to the hot springs. Too many naked Europeans. This worked out just fine. A little squishy but beggars can't be choosers.

Quick Apology

So because I am so behind it keeping up with Jade's journal, I've decided that the only sane way to do this is to catch up by month. Technically I am writing this particular blog in August and Jade is 15 months old. That means I have 8 months to catch up. That would take me a gazillion years. So instead I've learned my lesson. I will briefly touch on the highlights and then get to the present and then really spill the little details. So here it goes...

Jade's Sixth Month Checkup

November 24-30, 2008: On Monday I took Jade to the pediatrican for her six month checkup. She is officially 17.7 lbs and in the 75th percentile for everything; head circumference, weight and height. I talked to the doctor about taking her off of the Prevacid. She agreed with me that I could start to wean her off of the medication. I think she is old enough and with eating solids now I think she would do okay. Jade sleeps through the night 10-11 hours. She eats three meals a day and is eating baby food really well. Her favorite is prunes. She still hates peas and green beans but will eat squash, sweet potoatos and carrots really well. She holds her own bottle, sits by herself, sits in a high chair, and is starting to scoot herself with her elbows. She is constantly happy, always smiling and is easy to make laugh. She takes 2-3 naps a day, one in the morning, one after lunch and one before dinner. She likes to sleep with a pacifier and her "Beary Bear". It's like half stuffed animal, half blanket. It's a he but he's pink. She loves him. She especially likes the little tag that I left on him. She likes to play with it. She seems so advanced for her age. It could just be that I'm biased but she seems super intelligent. She's such a great baby.
Tuesday was a red letter day. I convinced Aaron that we should buy a big screen TV. I think he was feeling a little responsible for the large mess the fish tank made. My dad was able to find a killer deal on a Sony 52 inch flat screen with a PS3. It only cost us $1800. We both agreed that we would get the TV now while it was a great deal and just not open it until Christmas. That will be our Christmas to each other. We've also decided to build an entertainment center in the middle of the wall where the fish tank used to be and include a 2 sided fireplace. We've hired Jeremy to build it for us. He's currently working on the plans and we will see how it turns out. I'm excited.
Thursday was Thanksgiving. We went to Gary Gunn's house for dinner around 2pm and then I had to go into work at 6pm. It was one of the busiest nights I have ever worked. The wait to get back to a room was almost 3 hours. The craziest thing was the patients were super sick. Yes we saw our fair share of Turkey Bowl injuries and lacerations d/t knives but the majority of the patients were super sick with serious illnesses. We even had two full arrests. One we saved and the other came in basically dead. It was a sad way to celebrate Thanksgiving. While I worked Aaron and Jade went over to the Sorensen's and had leftovers and played games. Aaron came to the hospital and dropped me off some leftovers. I didn't even have time to eat it I was so busy. Too bad too because I love turkey leftovers.
Friday we spent all day putting up our Christmas lights outside and the tree and inside decor. It was really fun to be together as a little family and put the tree up. I can't wait until Jade is older when she will really get into the Christmas season. It will be fun to establish our own traditions with her. Unfortunately this year Jade has slept through most of the squeeziness. I think she is getting sick again because she is a little cranky and has a runny nose. Let's hope not. She just stopped taking her antibiotic and was doing so well.
On Saturday Clair offered us his Jazz tickets. We debated whether to go or not because Jade had been running a fever earlier in the day with a runny nose and red eyes. I took her to the pediatrican's after hours clinic but she is just fine. No ear infections etc. Just something viral. This evening however she seemed to be feeling better so we decided to go to the game. She loved it. She was so good natured even though I knew she didn't feel well. There was a little black boy sitting behind us and she was totally facinated with him. She spent most of the time watching him than the game. Everyone around us commented on how cute and good she was. We had a really good time and the Jazz even won.

DiaperRash, Christmas Village, Sickness

November 17-23, 2008: Nothing too much to write about this week. It was a pretty laid back week. Mostly we are all just recovering from being ill. Jade had really bad diarrhea and ended up getting horrible diaper rash. I called the pediatrican to ask for ideas on what I could do to get the diaper rash under control and she recommended I use Lanolin to work as a skin barrier. She also suggested giving Jade yogurt. I didn't know I could give Jade yogurt at 6 months but she said it would be okay. Sure enough, within one day the yogurt had gotten rid of her diarrhea. So mental note: next time Jade takes amoxicillin, I need to give her yogurt.
Also on Monday and Tuesday I had a TNCC class for my nursing continual education. It's an 8 hour class, two days a week with an extremely hard test at the end of the two days. Luckily I passed but it was extremely hard and time consuming. Jade stayed with my mom and Jen Sorensen for those two days. She did a really good job.
On Wednesday I had to go to traffic school for the ticket I got last month while driving to lunch to meet the Sorensen ladies. It was so gay. What a waste of my time. But you've got to do what you've got to do to keep the insurance costs down.
On Saturday Aaron, Jade and I went down to my parents house to help them put up their Christmas village. It took us several hours and all we did was help them unload all the boxes. Jade had fun though sitting on the floor looking at all the action. I am really starting to like this paper weight stage that Jade is in. She is content sitting on the floor with a toy as long as she is in the middle of the action.


Aaron is starting to get sick. He has felt crappy all day today. He's getting the cold that Jade and I are getting over. Poor thing. I know he didn't feel well when he decided to not go to football in the morning. :)
On Sunday, Aaron stayed home from church sick in bed. He feels awful. We went to Grandma and Grandpa Gunn's house without him.

November 10-16, 2008: On Monday Aaron went to California for a quick business trip. He will be home on Tuesday. Jade and I went down to Grandma Gunn's and hung out all day.

Tuesday: Aaron came home. It's good to have him home, even when he's gone for just one day.
Wednesday: I worked at the hospital tonight. I had Aaron bring Jade in after he called to tell me that she had a fever again. Dr. Darr checked her out but nothing was wrong, just viral. But because she has had a runny nose and fever off and on for three weeks now Dr Darr put her on antibiotics. I hope they help.
Thursday: I worked again, Jade stayed with Aaron. Nothing special. Jade is still running a fever and has a runny nose.
Friday: Aaron had a campout with the Young Men tonight. He gets home tomorrow in the afternoon. It's not really a campout though. More like staying in a cabin...in style. Pathetic :)
Saturday: Jade woke up with diarrhea. I've changed her diaper at least 5 times. I'm sure it's due to the antibiotic but still, poor thing. If she keeps this up her little bottom is going to be so sore. The antibiotic is helping though. She's feeling a lot better.
We had our tithing settlement interview with the bishop this morning. We are officially full tithe payers. It is a good feeling to be declared a full tithe payer. Both Aaron and I have always payed our tithing every month and I can see how the Lord has blessed us for doing so. I notice that if I don't pay my tithing every month, even though I will pay it later on, our finaces are always a little tight. But when we pay our tithing every month and pay a generous fast offerings we always seem to have surplus in our account.
We took the girls and Jade to the bowling alley tonight. We had a really good time and Jade loved the music and lights. We played a game that the girls introduced us to. You play with Mika and Ikes and when it's your turn to bowl you choose a Mike and Ike and the color signifies how you bowl. For example, if you choose green you bowl with your left hand, yellow, you bowl backwards etc. We had a really good time and the game made two games of bowling go really fast. Aaron still killed us though. He's a pretty good bowler when he wants to be. Lately when you hold Jade under her armpits she will jump up and down. It's the funniest thing. She did that all night at the bowling alley. We paid more attention to Jade than we did to bowling.

Jade is Six Months Old

November 2-8th, 2008: Sunday we came home from church to a weird sound downstairs. Aaron went to investigate and found our basement semi-flooded from the fishtank. He ran upstairs to discover that the entire north wall of our living room were the fishtank sits was wet. Water was leaking from fishtank, down the wall and into the carpet. It ruined the wall and we had to pull the carpet back to keep it from getting wetter. Aaron called Jeremy and he came over in his church clothes to help us. Little did he know what a big mess it would be. In six hours Aaron and Jeremy emergency evacuated the fish into buckets and drained the tank before it could dump more water into the basement. They also tore out the north wall and removed the fish tank. They pulled back our carpet and ripped out the pad underneath. I dutifully took care of Jade while they did the major clean up. It was such an awful mess. I'm just glad we weren't out of town at the time and that we caught it pretty much at the beginning before the water could leak completely. We were able to save the fish and Aaron put everything up on ebay. He sold all of the equipment, fish and even the sand within one week. He sold everything for about $1500. It was kind of sad to see our fish go. I've kind of gotten attached to them, we've even given them names. I hope they do well at their new homes. I guess the good thing that comes from all of this is now maybe I can convince Aaron to get a flat screen TV. That would be awesome.


On Monday Jade and I went to lunch with Grandma and Grandpa Gunn. Jade is getting sicker and sicker. She is still super congested and now she has diarrhea. She has diaper rash because of the diarrhea that I can't seem to get under control, no matter what kind of ointment or how fast I change her after she poos. Poor thing. She cries every time I change her. I have to give her props though. For feeling as poorly as she does she still is in good spirits. She laughs and smiles at everyone. During dinner I feed Jade pureed peas for the first time. She spit them back in my face. I take it that she doesn't like them. I don't blame them, especially pureed. Gross! For FHE Aaron and I voted for the next President of the United States via email. I had a tender mercies moment. I have had a difficult time knowing who to vote for this election. Both canidates make me nervous and there really isn't much that I agree with on either platform. So before voting I said a prayer that I would directed to know who to vote for. The answer I received was that I should vote for the person that I thought would hold the same church and family values in the same light as I did. Unfortunately, the canidate I voted for didn't win. It will be interesting to see what the next 4 years hold with Obama in power. Heaven help us! On Tuesday Jade and I lounged around all day. I officially have Jade's cold. So we didn't really do anything all day but eat, sleep and watch TV. I sure hope Aaron doesn't get it. Also Jade is learning how to scoot herself around using her hands and knees. It's super cute to watch her. She doesn't move far but if she is reaching for something she can move a couple of inches and get it. She's close! Oh no! Wednesday, Jade is 6 months old today. She is getting so big. She still doesn't have much hair but that's okay. She's still super cute. Aaron made the comment that he's really starting to enjoy Jade because she's getting a personality. She has her likes and dislikes. She's so easy going, loves strangers and special attention (not like she gets enough of that :)) always smiling, cries a little and laughs a lot. She is on a great schedule and eats and sleeps really well. She also really likes the boys. She flirts with them constantly. A boy walks into the room and instantly her attention is drawn to them. She smiles and blinks her eyes adoringly with her long lashes. She's quite the flirt. When she is older she is going to be trouble. We sure do love having her in our family and I can't imagine life without her. All day Thursday I've been in bed sick with flu-like symptoms. I've been sick in bed for the last two days...as in bed as you can be with a six month old. I was actually scheduled to work tonight but I was thankfully flexed for all 12 hours. It's bad timing to be so sick cause Aaron and I signed up for a half marathon in St. George. We haven't really trained as well as we should have for the race but healthy I think I could have walked/ran it and made it. Now that I am so sick I don't think I will be able to do it. I guess we will see. The race is in two days. On Friday we traveled to St. George with Clair, Roanne, Kylee, Austin, Mara and their kids. We didn't leave until Aaron got off of work so we didn't get to the condo until really late. By the time we got there everyone was already asleep so we just went straight to bed. I'm glad too because I didn't feel good at all. I'm still really weak and have a horrible chest congestion. On Saturday Aaron and Mara got up early and went to the race. I didn't sleep well last night because Jade kept me up most of the night. She had a hard time breathing d/t congestion and change of scenery. with the lack of sleep and not feeling well I just didn't think I could run the race. Instead we all went to cheer them on. Mara ran it in under two hours and Aaron ran it just a little over 2 hours which is really good for not training hardly at all.

Afterwards Roanne and I went shopping at the Outlets while everyone else went back for naps. Ro and I really had a great time shopping together. I decided where we went and she followed right along. We even got a brewski afterwards. It was great. I ended up buying Jade alot of cute baby clothes at the Carter's outlet. They were having a sale! That night we went to the Olive Garden and took cute pictures of her in the car. She did fine until dinner and then she had a breakdown. We had to wait for an hour to even get in and by the time we were done eating she was so tired that she was just plain ornry. It's not like her to do that. She's usually really happy, even when she is tired. I guess she was just beyond tired. Poor thing.

Sunday it started raining while in St. George so instead of going to Zion's, like we had planned, we just went home. We ended up at the Gunn's house for dinner and had the chance to meet Hudson's new girlfriend of the month, Vanessa.
