February 2, Ground Hog's Day. Jade had her first taste of chocolate cake tonight for FHE at Mom Gunn's house. She loved it. Aaron is in Kentucky for another couple of days so we are spending the day the with grandparents. Mom Gunn thinks I'm starting a bad habit and that she will be a sugar-aholic if I'm not careful.
February 5, Jade is officially 9 months old. Today I gave Jade her little yellow train that she got from Grandparents Gunn for Christmas. She stood right up while holding onto the train and started walking behind it. All by herself! She can't turn the corners very well so that means you have to follow behind her so you can turn her around but other than that she loves it.
February 6, Jade did a real wave today. I have been practicing with her since her 9 month check up with the pediatrican. She said that by 9 months Jade should be waving. So to make sure she's not behind, I've been practicing with her everyday. She finally waved all by herself. It's more of her fingers going up and down rather than a side to side wave.
February 8, Today was our Stake Conference and Jade was a PILL. She didn't want to sit in her car seat, she wanted to see everyone around her and then she didn't want to sit on our laps. Everytime we let her down she would try to escape holding onto the chairs, then when we would pick her up she would just scream. I was so tempted to strangle her. Luckily there was a cute boy sitting behind us and he started making oogly eyes at her and that kept her attention for awhile. I am starting to hate church, especially if she starts being a pill in church.
We got out of the car to go to Grandma Sorensen's and found Jade this way. She didn't even cry.
January 12, Jade can WHISTLE! How funny! I make this breathing sound through pursed lips and it makes a whistling sound. Jade can mimick it and she has actually got to the point where she makes a whistling sound when doing it.
January 13, Jade is wearing her first pair of shoes. Mom Gunn found her a pair of white high tops and we can actually fit her fat feet in them. Before, with any other pair of shoes we haven't been able to get the tops of her feet to fit in the shoe, especially if they are Mary Jane styled. It creates a muffin top over the strap and it looks super uncomfortable. Poor child inherited fat, wide feet from her loving, adorable father. :)
February 14,
Jade's first Valentines Day. Cupid came to the door and left her a cute red stuffed bear to play with. It was fun to pass on the tradition of cupid at the door just like my parents did with us kids. I know she doesn't get it but it was fun for me to do. It was also Kylee's and Roanne's birthdays today. We went over and hung out with the family and met Cade's new girlfriend Lisa. She's super cute and Jade seemed to really like her. She played with her and sat on her lap all evening long.
February 16, I tried Jade with a soft nipple sippy cup for the first time. She seemed to get the hang of it really fast and seemed to like it. I only use it for meals though because I don't want it dripping all over the carpet.
February 18, We decided that Jade was getting too big for her infant carseat. So we bought a big kid carseat that sits forward from KSL. She seems to really like it because now she can see what is going on all around it. It's like its opened a whole new world for her to investigate.
She has also started sticking out her tongue like a lizard when you ask her to. You say, "Jade, what does a lizard say," and she will stick out her tongue. It's super funny to watch. Tonight Aaron watched Jade while I took Mom Gunn to Madame Butterfly for an early birthday present. We went to dinner and then the show. It was a great play and I think mom enjoyed herself. I enjoyed it because I was able to get mom a gift that was super unexpected, that she never would have bought herself, but that she enjoyed seeing. Point for me!
February 19, We went down to St. George with Aaron's family to hang out for the weekend. Originally it was just going to be Clair, Roanne, Jen and Jeremy because they wanted to go to the Parade of Homes but it ended up being everyone. We all seemed to be able to get work off and go. Jade did really well. We just put her pack-n-play in the laundry room and she slept really well. She loves hanging out with her cousins because there's so much going on and it keeps her entertained for hours on end. We have the cutest video of Jade "dancing" while at the Parade of Homes. We were out on a patio and she grabbed hold of the railing bars and started stamping her feet up and down, laughing and yelling at the people below. It is the cutest thing ever!
February 23
This is a picture of Dad and Jade sitting in the play pen together. Dad will do anything to win over Jade's love and affection.
February 24, It was the Draper Temple Open House tonight. We took Jade with us and she did really well. Occasionally she was a little irreverant but we took her pacifier and that seemed to help. At the end of the tour we found ourselves in front of Cierra and Paige. We took them home with us and went out to eat at the Porcupine
After the open house, Jade was super tired. She feel asleep drinking her bottle.
February 25, I've been trying to go to the gym 2-3 times a week. I have the Gold pass that allows me to use their daycare for free. I just have to call a day in advance and schedule an appointment. However that is a good thing for me because it keeps me motivated to go. Jade seems to really like it as well. It gives her an hour away from me where she can interact with other kids and toys. She never cries and all the daycare workers always comment that she is super easy to watch because she does her own thing, is never needy and never cries. I think this is a really good thing for both of us. We need that hour of alone time, away from each other because it keeps me sane and it keeps Jade from getting mother dependant. Win-Win!
February 26,
Happy 52nd Birthday to Mom Gunn! Mom and I scrapbooked all morning and afternoon long. We are scrapbooking queens lately. We both have catching up to do, some more than others, (that would be me. I think I am only 6 years behind now.) but we both want to get it done so that come summer we can swim. To celebrate mom's bday we went out to Italian Village. So tasty!
